The actor confirmed to Zoom, "I was approached for Housefull 5, but I decided not to participate." Had John accepted the offer, it would have marked his latest collaboration with Akshay Kumar. This duo is one that audiences have longed to see together, particularly since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. They have previously starred in several comedy films, including Garam Masala, Housefull 2, Desi Boyz, and Dishoom. In the film featuring Varun Dhawan and John Abraham, Akshay made a memorable cameo that captivated the audience. This appearance was also the last time they shared the screen together, nearly a decade ago in 2016.

Despite turning down Housefull 5, John provided a significant clue about a potential sequel to Garam Masala. It appears that the 'Desi Boyz' may come together again for Garam Masala 2. John expressed, "I would be thrilled to collaborate on a Garam Masala with Akshay (Kumar). Perhaps it could be something situational, a dark comedy, or an exciting project with him."
