Jennifer Lopez is candidly discussing the challenges and triumphs of motherhood, demonstrating that even celebrities face the difficulties of daily life. In a recent interview with British Vogue, the pop icon, who shares parenting responsibilities for five children with her former partner Ben Affleck, reflected on her struggles while portraying Judy Robles in her latest film, Unstoppable.

This movie, inspired by the remarkable true story of champion wrestler Anthony Robles, delves into the profound relationship between Anthony and his mother.

Jennifer Lopez opens up about ‘motherhood’ and ‘struggles’

Lopez reflected on her personal experiences, stating, “As a mother, one always strives to present the best version of oneself for the sake of the children, to uplift them — yet this does not negate the reality of being a human who faces challenges.” The renowned singer, known for her hit "Jenny From the Block," is the mother of twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with her former husband, Marc Anthony.

Additionally, she co-parents Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s three children—Violet, Finn, and Seraphina—following her marriage to Affleck two years ago. Although the couple has filed for divorce, it is reported that Lopez maintains a close relationship with Affleck’s children, frequently seen engaging with them or attending their school functions.

Judy Robles highlighted the profound connection between Lopez's affection for her children and the love depicted in her character, which resonated deeply with her. Lopez elaborated that the complexity of her role stemmed from understanding the dual aspects of motherhood—the joyful moments shared with her children and the difficult, private challenges that accompany them.

In her discussions with Anthony Robles and his family, Lopez expressed her alignment with the aspiration to be the best for one’s children. "What made it thrilling for me as an actress was engaging with Anthony and your children, who would say, ‘My mom is the best; she is always cheerful and brings joy to everything.’ Yet, in conversations with you, I learned about the hardships,” she remarked.

She further stated, “I experienced feelings like this within the marriage and sometimes with the children, and all of those insights you provided made me realize the depth of the situation, and I comprehended it.”

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Atlas star conveyed how her journey as a single mother imparted a significant lesson: love and dedication are sufficient to create a meaningful impact. She articulated the common parental concern of questioning, "Am I enough for them?" while underscoring that having one nurturing parent can indeed make a substantial difference.

Jennifer Lopez’s Unstoppable tanks at the box office

Amidst challenges in her career and a cancelled residency, Lopez's latest film, co-produced by her former spouse Ben Affleck, did not resonate with audiences and performed poorly at the box office. Unstoppable garnered a mere £3,900 during its opening weekend in the UK, placing it 55th among new releases.

Nevertheless, a source disclosed to Express that this limited theatrical release was a deliberate choice. The film aims primarily for recognition during the awards season. It previously received standing ovations at several film festivals. By limiting its theatrical run to just one week, the film qualifies for prestigious awards such as the Oscars. This approach is frequently employed by streaming services to enhance their films' chances for awards consideration. Unstoppable is set to officially debut on Amazon Prime Video globally on January 16th.
