The second season of the Khakee franchise features a historic collaboration between two prominent Bengali film actors, Jeet and Prosenjit Chatterjee, who appear together on screen for the first time. Their presence at the recent trailer launch of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter in Kolkata attracted significant attention. During a discussion, Jeet expressed his enthusiasm about working alongside Prosenjit, affectionately known as Bumba Da by his peers and admirers, while director Debatma Mandal shared insights regarding the forthcoming series.

Jeet's Reflections on Collaborating with Prosenjit

In Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, Jeet portrays IPS Arjun Maitra, a dedicated police officer committed to delivering justice in an environment where allegiances are easily swayed and any companion may harbor hidden motives.

When asked about his experience working with Prosenjit, Jeet remarked, “Throughout our careers, many actors have looked up to him! I recall a time before I entered the industry when Bumba Da was already a dominant force in cinema!"

He continued, "I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to share the screen with him. Although Bumba Da has collaborated with our production in the past, we did not have the chance to work together then. I am truly delighted that we could join forces for this series in such a meaningful way (smiles).”

The production, directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray, includes a diverse cast of actors such as Saswata Chatterjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Ritwick Bhowmick, Aadil Zafar Khan, Chitrangada Singh, Pooja Chopra, Aakanksha Singh, Mimoh Chakraborty, and Shraddha Das.

‘All of them wanted to make a great show’

Director Debatma Mandal shared insights on assembling this talented ensemble, particularly highlighting the collaboration between Jeet and Prosenjit, which fans will witness for the first time. “I do feel a bit nervous, of course,” he remarked with a smile. “If I weren’t, that would be unusual. However, there was not an overwhelming amount of pressure as we embarked on this project. We recognized that we were engaged in something deeply meaningful to us, and the atmosphere on set was consistently positive. Each actor contributed to the notion that we needed to create something exceptional together. Their collective desire to produce a remarkable show is evident in the trailer. Thus, while there was a sense of responsibility to deliver a quality production, we have put forth our utmost effort, and now it is in the hands of the audience to embrace the show. We hope they enjoy it!”

Khakee: The Bengal Chapter premieres on March 20 on Netflix.
