Jayam Ravi, the popular Tamil actor took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle today and announced his divorce from his wife Aarti, with an official statement. The Ponniyin Selvan actor’s announcement came out a day before his 43rd birthday and has left his fans and followers in shock. Aarti had sparked divorce rumors earlier by removing Jayam Ravi’s pictures from her official Instagram handle. The actor’s new update has now put an end to the speculations.

Jayam Ravi announces separation from Aarti

Recently, the Siren actor took to his X handle and posted a long statement, revealing his decision to part ways with Aarti after 15 years of marriage. “Life is a journey filled with various chapters, each presenting its own opportunities and challenges. As many of you have followed my journey both on and off the screen with utmost love and support, I have always strived to be transparent and honest with my fans and the media as much as possible,” reads Jayam Ravi’s post.

Jayam Ravi further added, “After much thought, reflections, and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved,” wrote the actor. “In light of this, I hereby kindly request all of you to respect our privacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you to refrain from making any assumptions, rumors, or allegations in this regard and let the matter remain private."

For the uninitiated, Jayam Ravi tied the knot with Aarti, the daughter of Vijayakumar and senior producer Sujatha Vijayakumar. in 2009, after a few years of courtship. The Thani Oruvan actor and wife soon emerged as one of the most-loved star couples of Tamil cinema, and their social media posts always earned a lot of love from their fans and followers. Ravi and Aarti are blessed with two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.
