Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah brought some extra star power to Coldplay's final concert in India on Sunday, where he was spotted in the crowd in Ahmedabad. The fast bowler got a special shout-out from lead singer Chris Martin, who performed a song just for him during the Republic Day concert. This surprise appearance came after Martin had mentioned Bumrah at the band's previous show in Mumbai. Just days before, the singer had read a note from Bumrah's lawyers regarding the unauthorized use of his name, leading fans to speculate that this was all part of the buildup to Bumrah's appearance.

Bumrah made his entrance towards the end of the concert in Ahmedabad while Chris and the band were rocking out on stage B. As Chris chatted with the audience, the camera zoomed in on Bumrah, and he then launched into an impromptu song dedicated to the "best bowler in all of cricket."

When Chris Martin checked out a letter from Bumrah's attorney

Chris Martin brought up Jasprit Bumrah's name during Coldplay's first concert in Mumbai last week, catching everyone off guard. Then, at the next concert on Tuesday, he had a funny moment where he paused the show to say, “I’m really sorry, but I need to read a letter from Jasprit Bumrah’s lawyer. I have to do this, or we might end up in jail and miss our gig in Ahmedabad.”

As he read the letter into the mic, Chris joked, “Dear Coldplay, you mentioned Jasprit Bumrah in your first two shows without asking. That’s against the law—you can’t just say his name. Who do you think you are, you silly Englishman? It also says that Mr. Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in the entire world, while you’re just a goofy singer.” The playful tone of the letter led many fans to believe it was a clever way to hype up Bumrah's upcoming appearance in his hometown of Ahmedabad.

Coldplay's shows in India are something special

The concert, which is part of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour, is being streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar in India. Coldplay's shows in Mumbai have been a huge hit. Celebrities such as Shreya Ghoshal, Suhana Khan, Navya Nanda Naveli, Kajal Aggarwal, and more were seen having a great time at the concerts.
