Kannada filmmakers Hemanth M Rao and Janardhan Chikkanna have been friends for a long time, even before the latter made his directorial debut with Gultoo . In fact, Janardhan often turned to Hemanth as a sounding board, every time he had a doubt during the making of Gultoo. But when Janardhan then went to Hemanth to talk about a story he’d come across and was looking at directing, their relationship took on a more professional dimension, albeit one that hinged firmly on respect for each other’s process.
In a conversation with the Kannada Filmy Club regarding a potential collaboration with Hemanth as a producer, Janardhan shared that the creator of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello maintained a hands-off approach, offering feedback only when solicited. "Throughout the production of Agnyathavasi, we did not experience any creative conflicts. The atmosphere was conducive to filmmaking. Hemanth was very conscious of his role as a producer and was determined not to overstep his boundaries. We operated strictly within our defined roles as director and producer. I refrained from leveraging our friendship, and he, in turn, did not impose his ideas on me. We had a clear understanding of our responsibilities in the filmmaking process," Janardhan stated.
There were instances when Janardhan sought Hemanth's opinion on specific elements of the film, and Hemanth was always clear in his suggestions, emphasizing that the final decision rested solely with the director. "Hemanth never suggested that he would have approached things differently if it were his choice. In moments of uncertainty, we engaged in constructive discussions, and what stands out about Hemanth is his willingness to explore the reasoning behind any creative choice. If there was a solid rationale, he would support it," the director added.

Janardhan noted that there were occasional suggestions made, particularly when the director's reasoning for certain decisions lacked clarity. "Overall, it was a wonderful atmosphere that allowed me to work and showcase my creativity," he remarked.
