Vinayakan, known for his significant roles including one in Rajinikanth's "Jailer," has expressed his discontent towards Suresh Kumar following the producer's remarks about actors venturing into film production. In a post on Facebook, Vinayakan criticized Suresh Kumar, asserting that cinema does not belong solely to the Malayalam film producer and his supporters.

Vinayakan reacts to Suresh Kumar's comments

Suresh Kumar recently garnered attention by stating that Malayalam cinema is facing a crisis and voiced his disapproval regarding actors who have taken on production roles.

Vinayakan, known for his candidness, responded to Suresh Kumar's comments in a Facebook post. He questioned, "Is cinema merely the private domain of you and your allies? You may inform your wife and daughter that actors should refrain from producing films. I intend to produce, direct, distribute, and present films as well. This is India, Jai Hind," Vinayakan stated in Malayalam.

For those unfamiliar, Suresh Kumar is married to former actress Menaka Suresh, and their daughter, Keerthy Suresh, has starred in prominent films such as "Mahanati." Keerthy Suresh, who married in 2024, was last featured in the film "Baby John" alongside Varun Dhawan.

Suresh Kumar about Malayalam cinema

G. Suresh Kumar, an official with the Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA), previously asserted that the exorbitant fees demanded by stars are unjustifiable and contribute to the challenges faced by Malayalam cinema.

In an interview with Manorama, he elaborated on the topic of actors producing films, noting, "Before the pandemic, only two actors were involved in production—Mohanlal and Dilip. The trend of actors producing films surged post-Covid due to the rise of OTT platforms." He remarked that these actors now expect producers to finance projects while they oversee production.

This statement has seemingly provoked Vinayakan, who has openly criticized the producer. As of now, Suresh Kumar has not issued a response to Vinayakan's comments.

Vinayakan, recognized for his roles in Kammatipaadam, was most recently featured in Thekku Vadakku. Beyond Kerala, he is likely most recognized for his portrayal of the antagonist in Jailer, which stars Rajinikanth. The Malayalam actor is set to appear in a significant role alongside Mammootty in an upcoming film directed by Jithin K Jose.
