Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins is soon to be released, and Jaideep Ahlawat, who has captivated viewers with his roles in Paatal Lok, Raazi, Raees, and Jaane Jaan, is preparing to do it again. Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, and Nikita Dutta are among the actors appearing in the April 25 Netflix release. The film, which is co-directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, promises to be an exciting ride.

Jaideep Ahlawat’s unique aura draws comparisons to Irrfan Khan

The complex and multi-layered characters that Ahlawat has portrayed have won him a legion of devoted fans. Quite a few of his admirers have compared him to the late actor Irrfan Khan, praising him for carrying on the legendary actor's film heritage.

In a recent interview with India Today, the actor addressed the comparisons made about him, expressing his appreciation for the acknowledgment while also recognizing the pressure that accompanies such elevated expectations. "What can I say? It's a deeply personal sentiment. Internally, I feel a significant sense of responsibility in a rather surreal manner," Jaideep shared.

Being cherished by others in this manner is a remarkable privilege, yet it also entails considerable responsibility. He is compelled to engage in every aspect of the creative process, from writing the script to delivering the performance, treating it as an art form. Viewers of his work are not truly participating in his artistic journey unless he is fully engaged himself.

Jaideep Ahlawat's rise

Beginning Ahlawat began his Bollywood journey with a negative character in Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha, followed by a cameo in Aakrosh alongside Ajay Devgn. However, it was his remarkable role in the cult classic Gangs of Wasseypur, directed by Anurag Kashyap, that marked his breakthrough. His later performances in Raazi and Raees received both critical acclaim and audience appreciation, but it was his compelling portrayal of Hathi Ram Chaudhary in the Prime Video series Paatal Lok that solidified his reputation as one of the most talented actors of his generation.

The parallels to the late Irrfan Khan are particularly poignant, given the significant influence he had on both Indian and global cinema. The elegance and emotional depth he brought to his performances in films like Life of Pi, The Lunchbox, Paan Singh Tomar, and The Namesake established new benchmarks for acting excellence. After valiantly battling a neuroendocrine tumor, he passed away in April 2020 at the age of 53.

Currently, attention is focused on Ahlawat as the premiere of Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins approaches, with anticipation surrounding his continued efforts to push boundaries in the industry.
