Actor Jaaved Jaaferi has voiced his disagreement with the idea that an actor's social media following serves as a reliable measure of their box office performance. He cited the cases of Urvashi Rautela and Salman Khan, emphasizing that their online popularity does not necessarily equate to successful film sales.

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Jaaved Jaaferi articulated his perspective on this issue. He stated, “I do not concur with the belief that these factors define a star. While a visible initial boost may occur, having 70 to 100 million followers does not guarantee ticket sales. For instance, Urvashi Rautela boasts 70 million followers, but do those followers actually convert into ticket buyers? If we consider just 10 million of her followers, which amounts to 1 crore people, and if each of them purchased a ₹250 ticket, the film would theoretically earn ₹100 crore. However, that is not how it operates.”
Jaaved further remarked that it is not promotional activities that determine a film's success, but rather the quality of the trailer. He noted, “Rajinikanth sahab is the most prominent star. Where does he engage in film promotion? If the film is good, it will succeed. Ultimately, audiences may come for a star, yet some stars do not always achieve significant openings. A Salman Khan film might debut with ₹10 to 5 crore, or it could open with ₹50 crore. The audience's perception, shaped by the trailer, is what truly matters. Not all Salman Khan films achieve a ₹50 crore opening; it all hinges on the trailer.”
Jaaved’s next project
Regarding his upcoming projects, Jaaved, who rose to fame through the television dance show Boogie Woogie, is set to appear in the JioHotstar series Oops Ab Kya, which draws inspiration from the Latin American telenovela Jane the Virgin. The series, featuring co-stars Shweta Basu Prasad and Sonali Kulkarni, is scheduled for release on February 20.
