Actor Imran Khan has always embraced a Japanese minimalist lifestyle. However, things took a turn when his girlfriend, Lekha Washington, came into the picture. In a recent chat, Imran shared how his life has transformed since they began living together.

Imran and Lekha reportedly started their relationship during the Covid lockdown and moved in together about a year ago. Since then, it’s been a journey of balancing his tendency to declutter with her passion for collecting unique items.

So, how did he shift from a minimalist way of life to cohabiting with someone who enjoys gathering things? It seems it was a gradual adjustment. In an interview with Bombay Times, the actor recounted a time when he realized he didn’t even have enough cutlery to entertain guests.

Lekha mentioned that we need to get more things

About two years ago, we had some friends over for dinner—a couple, so there were four of us in total. I only had three plates and three forks since I wasn't used to having guests. It was a bit of a surprise to have so many people at my place. In the end, Lekha and I ended up sharing a plate and a fork. After that, Lekha pointed out that we needed more utensils, and now we’re all set to host guests, the actor shared.

He mentioned that he has always preferred to keep things minimal so he can manage them easily and save time.

“I aimed to cut down on the items I rely on, keeping only what I can handle on my own. With just three plates and two cups, the stack of dirty dishes won’t get out of hand, making it easy to clean up in about ten minutes. That was my approach. Before Lekha and I moved in together, I didn’t have any help, and I still don’t. If someone else is doing the washing, you can keep using the dishes,” Imran explained.

Imran and Lekha seemed to run in the same social circles and began their relationship in 2020. At that time, Lekha was dating journalist Pablo Mukherjee, who happened to be a longtime friend of Imran. Before this, Imran was married to Avantika Malik, but they separated in 2019 after eight years together. They have a daughter named Imara.
