Actor Imran Khan's depiction of a womaniser in the 2010 film I Hate Luv Storys marked a significant shift from his earlier roles. He has now disclosed that it was Karan Johar who played a pivotal role in enhancing his public persona.
Imran reflects
In a discussion on the Moments of Silence podcast, Imran reminisced about the filming of I Hate Luv Storys, highlighting Karan's influence as the film's producer in shaping the character's essence.
"Karan essentially aimed to elevate my image. Typically, I do not gain much weight, but I was particularly attentive to my diet and exercise for this film. Karan suggested that we should capitalize on this opportunity. "We engaged in several… somewhat risqué photo shoots," Imran stated.
During the same interview, Imran recounted an experience with Ranbir Kapoor, who arrived with premium vodka to help ease his anxiety before they co-hosted the Filmfare Awards in 2009.
He remarked, "To be honest, the awards night was quite nerve-wracking since I had been in the industry for less than a year and was aware that prominent figures like Mr. (Amitabh) Bachchan would be in attendance. It was quite intimidating. After the dress rehearsal, Ranbir appeared with high-end vodka. Each time we stepped off the stage, we took a few sips before returning to continue the show. It was instrumental in calming our nerves."
