Ila Arun may not have contributed her vocal talents to a Bollywood song for the past twelve years, yet her influence remains significant within the Hindi film industry. Last year, two of her iconic tracks, Ghagra and Choli Ke Peeche, were reimagined for Rajesh A Krishnan's successful heist comedy, Crew. These songs were originally performed alongside Alka Yagnik for Subhash Ghai's 1993 crime drama, Khal Nayak. Although Ila expressed her discontent regarding the unauthorized use of her songs, she has since reconciled with the situation.

On Choli Ke Peeche and related controversies

Regarding Choli Ke Peeche and the associated controversies, Ila stated, “It is wrong. But I settled with them (Tips Music) on my own. I told them just because you have access to AI (artificial intelligence) now, you can't discount artists. But after Diljit Dosanjh's Choli Ke Peechhe, I received substantial royalties, and I hope he considers more of my songs.” Diljit Dosanjh performed this track not only for the film featuring Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon but also during his popular Dil-Luminati Tour in India and abroad last year.

Recently, Ila's daughter, Ishitta Arun, who is also an actor and singer, expressed on the podcast Cyrus Says that her mother has not received the singing opportunities she truly deserves. However, Ila believes that this perspective reflects her daughter's sentiments rather than an objective assessment of her career. “She thinks that her mother possesses more depth than the songs offered to her. Tracks like Reshma, which are included in my albums, represent her personal viewpoint. My perspective is that the industry is driven by commercial viability. Whatever resonates with audiences endures. If my melancholic songs gain traction, they will persist. I have no grievances. I cherish my film industry and take pride in being part of the Mumbai film scene, both as a singer and an actor. The roles I aspire to perform are found in theatre, which is where I dedicate my efforts,” Ila contends.
