Ibrahim Ali Khan, the son of Saif Ali Khan, is gearing up for his big Bollywood debut in Nadaaniyan, where he'll be starring alongside Khushi Kapoor, Boney Kapoor's daughter. The trailer for the film dropped on Saturday via Netflix, but it seems like Reddit users aren't too thrilled with the trailer or the acting chops of Ibrahim and Khush.
Reddit users share their thoughts on the Nadaaniyan trailer
A Reddit user posted the trailer for Nadaaniyan, and it got a lot of mixed feedback. Some folks weren't impressed with Ibrahim and Khushi's acting, while others drew comparisons to Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. One comment pointed out, “This feels like a rehashed SOTY. And seriously, why does Khushi sound so robotic, like she’s just reading lines?” Another user chimed in, saying, “Totally! I’m getting SOTY vibes too.” One user noted a major difference, stating, “The only thing missing is any competition for Khushi’s affection here.” Another added, "I just rewatched the SOTY trailer, and the difference is shocking..."
A Reddit user likened the movie to a Wattpad fanfiction, saying, “Omg ew, this is just like those Wattpad stories where one person pretends to be the boyfriend/girlfriend, and then they end up falling for each other.” A lot of others chimed in with similar thoughts. Critiquing Ibrahim and Khushi’s acting, one user said, “The way they deliver their lines is just terrible. Plus, everything feels pretty average.” Another mentioned, “Ibrahim was alright until that 25,000 scene… he looked totally fake during the emotional breakdown.” A third person questioned, “Why is everyone’s acting so cringy here?”
About Nadaaniyan
The trailer showcases Ibrahim as Arjun Mehta, a driven young guy aiming to study law and land a solid job. Khushi Kapoor takes on the role of Pia Jai Singh, a girl who values love more than her career goals. Things get intense when Arjun shatters Pia’s heart, claiming she’s been paying him ₹25,000 weekly to pretend to be her boyfriend. The film dives into themes of love, ambition, family conflicts, and a bit of chaos.
Directed by Shauna Gautam and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra through Dharmatic Entertainment, the movie also stars Mahima Chaudhary, Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj in key roles. Nadaaniyan is set to hit Netflix on March 7.
