Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has expressed her disapproval of the title of Akshay Kumar's 2017 film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. In an interview with Indian television, Jaya questioned whether viewers would be inclined to watch a film with such a name. Additionally, she referred to it as a "flop film."

Jaya Bachchan referenced a specific film while discussing movies that convey social messages. She remarked, “If you look at the title, I would never choose to watch such films. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha—what kind of name is that? Is it an appropriate title? Please tell me, how many of you would actually go to see a film with such a title?”

She then invited the audience to indicate whether they would watch the movie, and a few raised their hands. Jaya quickly responded, "The film is a flop."
