Singer Diljit Dosanjh has declared that he will refrain from conducting concerts in India until the concert infrastructure is adequately improved. Numerous videos surfaced on social media showcasing the singer's announcement made during his performance in Chandigarh on December 14.
Diljit says he won't perform in India due to poor infrastructure
In a video segment, Diljit expressed in Punjabi, "Currently, we lack the necessary infrastructure for live performances. This represents a significant source of income, providing employment opportunities for many individuals. I will make an effort next time to ensure that the stage is positioned centrally, allowing you to be in close proximity. Until such arrangements are made, I am certain that I will refrain from performing in India."
Diljit's held his show in Chandigarh on Saturday
On Saturday, Diljit performed in Chandigarh, dedicating his Dil-Luminati concert to Gukesh Dommaraju, the newly-crowned International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Champion of India. He commended Gukesh for his relentless effort and commitment from a young age in pursuit of his aspirations.
Through his Instagram account, he posted a video from the concert. He emphasized that while life presents various challenges, those who possess the ability to navigate them ultimately reach their goals. Diljit also referenced a well-known line from the film Pushpa, stating, "If one does not bow, will the brother-in-law bow?"
About his Chandigarh show
Prior to his performance, the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) issued an advisory urging him to avoid incorporating songs with alcohol-related themes in his live show.
The advisory, released by CCPCR chairperson Shipra Bansal on Thursday, explicitly referenced songs such as Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, and Case, recommending against the performance of any modified versions that could still endorse alcohol, drugs, or violence. Diljit is set to wrap up his tour in India with a concert in Guwahati on December 29.
