Kunchacko Boban achieved a remarkable debut in a prominent role with the film Aniyathipraavu, which established him as the quintessential chocolate boy hero in Malayalam cinema. However, even more than ten years after the 1997 release, Kunchacko Boban found it challenging to escape that persona. It was only later in his career that he began to embrace a variety of roles and appearances. In anticipation of the release of his film Officer On Duty, Kunchacko Boban discussed the importance of breaking stereotypes, including those perpetrated by fellow actors.

Kunchacko Boban stars in the leading role of Officer On Duty, alongside Jagadish. Both actors have long been associated with specific character types; Kunchacko has often been cast as the romantic lead, while Jagadish has been recognized primarily for his comedic roles. In a discussion with Cue Studio, the two actors expressed their relief at finally moving beyond these established images.

"Actors who find themselves confined to a single persona often yearn for the opportunity to explore diverse roles. I feel a great sense of excitement when I witness this transformation... it brings about a sense of freedom for others as well," stated the actor portraying a police officer in Officer On Duty.

About his co-star Jagadish from Officer On Duty, who has recently begun to take on a variety of roles, Kunchacko expressed his delight, stating, “I was truly pleased to witness his performances. I even reached out to him after watching his films, Falimy and Rorschach. It has been a pleasure to observe Jagadish's growth as an actor.”

Jagadish and Kunchako Boban have collaborated on multiple films, including Nakshatratharattu and Sathyam Sivam Sundaram, during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Both actors have taken breaks at different times before making their return to the film industry. Officer On Duty signifies their reunion on screen after a significant interval.

In response to this, Jagadish remarked that Kunchacko himself was just beginning to delve into diverse roles. “How could they possibly accommodate me as well?” he inquired.
