It's July 26, and even if you're not a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, you still know the significance of this date this year. Deadpool & Wolverine hit the big screen after what felt like an eternity. The movie establishes the mutants and X-Men in a big way and also marks Ryan Reynolds’ MCU debut alongside Hugh Jackman. The latter plays Logan, but a different variant than the Fox one in the movie. There is immense excitement about this development because Wolverine is a pivotal figure in the X-Men universe. The future of the character in the MCU is the hottest topic of discussion worldwide, and there have been numerous rumors. It turns out that Kevin Feige has now decided to spill the beans and has mentioned that there will be a point when another actor replaces Jackman. We think it could be Henry Cavill.

Kevin Feige On Replacing Hugh Jackman

This change is, of course, not happening anytime soon because we already know Hugh Jackman has a significant role in Avengers: Secret Wars and an immediate future planned. However, Kevin Feige has also confirmed that there are no plans to use the character and Hugh immediately. But that also means there are plans. In his latest interview, the Marvel President spoke about how there will come a time when Hugh Jackman will be replaced by another actor, and he sounded very sure that he already had a replacement in mind.

If you haven't seen Deadpool & Wolverine, you might want to stop here because there is a massive SPOILER AHEAD. Kevin Feige, in his interview with Discussing Films, spoke about the relevance of these characters and how there will eventually be a replacement for Hugh Jackman. "Yes. You know, Marvel is celebrating its 85th anniversary later this summer.”

“That’s just the first 85 years, and Disney just celebrated 100 years as well. I think these characters will be around for another 100 years, long after all of us. So, for sure, there will be [eventually another actor as Wolverine]. I think it will be in a very different style and in a different way. I also think if somebody were to attempt to do a Hugh Jackman as Wolverine impression, that would be a pretty big mistake,” he added.

But Why Henry Cavill?

Now, the Superman alum has been in conversation for several roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor has been linked to Nova, Doctor Doom, Captain Britain, and more. But the latest rumor suggested he is playing a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine, and from someone who has already seen the film, he does. Cavill appears as a Wolverine variant for less than a minute, but it is enough to give you an idea of how he would look in the role.

So now that Henry Cavill has given a tease about his entry into the MCU, it's not certain in what capacity for the future, but there is a strong possibility that Kevin Feige will hand him the mantle. He wouldn't have a star as massive as Henry just for a cameo without a single line. So, maybe brace yourselves—Superman is about to become Logan.

Deadpool & Wolverine is now on the big screen.
