Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, currently in the United States for a fan meet-and-greet event, disclosed that he would discreetly attend auditions, as his father, director Rakesh Roshan, encouraged him to forge his own path rather than rely on him to create a film for him.

The "War" star is in New Jersey for this occasion and recently shared insights into his journey within the film industry. Numerous pictures and videos from the event, hosted by Sophie Choudry, have surfaced online. In one particular video, Hrithik elaborates on how he took charge of his career, understanding that his father would not compromise his professional integrity merely to facilitate his son's entry into the industry. Hrithik recognized the necessity of proving himself worthy.

‘I thought I am not deserving’

My father consistently emphasized the importance of forging my own path in life, making it clear that I should not expect him to create a film for me simply because he is a director and I am his son. As a result, I grew up understanding that he would never compromise his artistic integrity for my benefit; I needed to earn that opportunity. There was a period when I doubted my worthiness for such a chance. Consequently, I took the initiative to go out and audition. I approached my friend Daboo Ratnani for a photo shoot. Lacking the funds to pay him, I promised that once I achieved success as an actor, I would repay him. He reassured me, saying, "Don't worry about it."

He also noted that he chose to audition for a film titled Ta Ra Rum Pum Pum, directed by Shekhar Kapur, which featured an exceptional script. However, his father was taken aback by this decision and advised Hrithik against pursuing it.

"I auditioned for several directors, including Shekhar Kapur, who was considering me for a film called Ta Ra Rum Pum Pum, which ultimately was never produced; it had a fantastic script. My father discovered this and called me while I was in the audition. He asked, ‘Hello, where are you?’ I replied that I was auditioning for Shekhar Kapur’s film. He responded, ‘What? Come back immediately, don’t engage in such activities,’" the actor recounted.

Father Roshan finally launched his son because…

Hrithik expresses that his father experienced a feeling of loss, as he would not be the one to launch his son’s career. Hrithik Roshan made his acting debut in the 2000 film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, which became a major box office success and set a record for the highest number of awards received by an Indian film. "I believe my dad felt a sense of loss knowing that someone else would take his son and create a film for him. Prior to that, he had only envisioned a film featuring me. I take great pride in the fact that I did not receive an offer from my father, Rakesh Roshan; instead, I was offered a role by the director, Rakesh Roshan. This is something I will always cherish," he remarked.

In a previous video, Hrithik expressed his nervousness about his directorial debut and emphasized the importance of receiving love and support from his fans.
