Nitesh Tiwari's adaptation of Ramayana boasts a star-studded cast that includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, among others. This film is highly anticipated and has attracted significant attention since its announcement. In addition to its impressive cast, the film has been in the news for its lavish production design during filming. Recently, it was reported that Jaideep Ahlawat was approached for the role of Vibhishan, but he ultimately had to decline. Read on to find out the reason behind this decision.

Jaideep Ahlawat was considered for the role of Vibhishan in Ramayana. According to The Times of India, the actor had to turn down the offer due to conflicts in his schedule and existing commitments. The report also noted that the filmmakers were eager to include him in the project, but unfortunately, their timelines did not align.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi was also in discussions for the role of Vibhishan.

Ramayana cast

In the upcoming film, Ranbir Kapoor will take on the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi will depict Sita. Yash, known for his role in KGF, will portray Ravana. Reports indicate that Sunny Deol and Kunal Kapoor will play Lord Hanuman and Lord Indra, respectively. Additionally, Lara Dutta is expected to assume the role of Kaikeyi.

Release Date of Ramayana  

In November 2024, the producers announced that the film would be released in two instalments. The first part is scheduled to premiere in theatres during Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027.

Namit Malhotra, the creative director at Prime Focus Studios, shared the release timeline on Instagram, stating, "More than a decade ago, I began a noble journey to bring this epic, which has captivated billions for over 5000 years, to the big screen. Today, I am excited to witness its development as our teams work diligently with a singular goal: to deliver the most authentic, sacred, and visually breathtaking adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our 'RAMAYANA' – for audiences worldwide."

Jaideep Ahlawat's work front

On the professional side, Jaideep continues to captivate his audience with his diverse performances. He was recently featured in Paatal Lok Season 2, where he garnered acclaim. Currently, he is preparing for the upcoming release of Jewel Thief, a heist thriller set to premiere on Netflix on April 25. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan and Nikita Dutta.
