Hera Pheri enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that director Priyadarshan, who directed the original instalment of the beloved comedy series, has confirmed his involvement in the upcoming third instalment.

Priyadarshan announces return

On the occasion of Priyadarshan's birthday, the esteemed director expressed his eagerness to produce Hera Pheri 3, featuring actors Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty.

Earlier on Thursday, Akshay shared a heartfelt birthday message for Priyadarshan, accompanied by a candid photograph taken on the set of Bhooth Bangla. The actor remarked, “Happy Birthday, Priyan Sir! What better way to celebrate than by spending the day on a haunted set, surrounded by ghosts...both real and unpaid extras? Thank you for being a mentor, and the only person who can make chaos look like a masterpiece. May your day be filled with fewer retakes. Wishing you a fantastic year ahead!”

In response to Akshay's kind wishes, Priyadarshan playfully hinted at an exciting development regarding Hera Pheri 3. “Thank you so much for your wishes, Akshay Kumar. In return, I would like to offer you a gift: I am willing to create Hera Pheri 3. Are you ready, Akshay?” He also included actors Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in his post.

How Hera Pheri 3 cast reacted

Akshay expressed immense enthusiasm in response to Priyadarshan's post by utilizing his own "miracle miracle" meme from Anees Bazmee's acclaimed 2007 comedy, Welcome. He wrote, "Sir!!! It is your birthday, and I have received the greatest gift of my life. Let us proceed with a bit of Hera Pheri 3 :) @pareshrawalofficial @suniel.shetty @priyadarshan.official."

Paresh Rawal conveyed his enthusiasm as well. On X, he stated, "Dear Priyan ji, you are the mother who introduced this divine bundle of joy to the world! Thank you once again for embracing this ever-smiling baby! Welcome, sir, and bring happiness back to the world @priyadarshandir #HeraPheri3."

Suniel also shared Priyadarshan's post, adding, “Hera Pheri and pooch pooch!!! Let us embark on this journey #HeraPheri3.” Gulshan Grover, who portrayed the antagonist Kabira in the original film, also took to X to share the announcement. He remarked, “Indeed, Suniel brother! Hera Pheri and pooch pooch!! Shetty, did you forget to tag my brother Kabira? How can there be Hera Pheri without Kabira speaking?”

Directed by Priyadarshan, the original Hera Pheri was released in 2000, featuring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, and Tabu in prominent roles. The sequel, released in 2006, was helmed by the late Neeraj Vora and included Akshay, Paresh, Suniel, Bipasha Basu, Rajpal Yadav, and Rimi Sen in leading roles.
