Just a few hours after her ‘Milega Nahi' comment, she praised and highly supported the wrestler on Instagram. “Vinesh Phogat, the whole nation rallies behind you! You are our heroine of this Olympics. Do not lose heart - you are meant for great achievements, and you have a bright future ahead of you! Just carry on bravely”, she wrote.
Hema Malini’s comment disheartens Indians
When the whole Bollywood and the national alike were in shock, actress Hema Malini’s negative comment yesterday was like salt on a cut for everyone. Her comment “I Wish She Loses 100 gm lekin milega nahi Ab” to Press Trust India (PTI) got instantly on the nerves of netizens, and she faced a barrage of criticism.
Social media flooded with thousands of comments on her fitness to serve in Parliament as member. While some questioned, "I don't understand why people elect someone like Hema Malini." Another called her statement "extremely stupid and insensitive”, pointing out that Vinesh Phogat's weight issue was a minor logistical error rather than a reflection of her health.
Netizens did not just stop trolling the veteran actress, but also tried to educate her by saying that Olympic athletes like Phogat, follow a rigorous training and diets, and that's her achievements, which couldn't be diminished by thoughtless comments, and lastly Malini has been called out as ignorant.

Following the disqualification in the 50 kg freestyle wrestling final, disheartened Vinesh shared her ultimate decision that left a trail of sadness across the nation. She took to X (formerly Twitter), and wrote, “Maa kushti (wrestling) won against me, I lost. Forgive me, your dream and my courage have been broken. I don't have any more strength now. Goodbye Wrestling 2001-2024. I will always be indebted to you all for forgiveness.”
