Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane's film Sanam Teri Kasam has made a remarkable comeback in theatres, achieving impressive box office success. The film has already surpassed its original lifetime earnings, doubling its previous total. After nine years, it is finally receiving the recognition and appreciation it deserves. Harshvardhan has been part of the film industry for more than ten years and has made significant strides in his career. Harshvardhan Rane's potential entry into Bollywood was marked by an opportunity to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela; however, he declined the role due to his reluctance to portray a negative character.
Reports indicate that he expressed, “Being considered by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his film was a significant moment in my career. Nevertheless, I was not inclined to take on negative roles. I aimed to pursue something innovative and distinct. There were expectations for me to engage in negative portrayals, but I sought to challenge that expectation, which ultimately led to the loss of some remarkable opportunities.”
Reports indicate that Harshvardhan graciously turned down the role of Deepika Padukone’s brother in the film after receiving the offer. The lead role was played by Ranveer Singh.
Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela achieved significant success at the box office. Nevertheless, Harshvardhan expressed that he does not regret his decision to forgo participation in the film.
In a previous interview, he remarked, “I have no regrets. It is a dream for any actor to be involved in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production. I would be eager to collaborate with him and hope he has a role for me in his upcoming project.”
Sanam Teri Kasam 2 in the cards?
In a recent interview with India Forums, directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru of Sanam Teri Kasam announced that they have finalized the script for Sanam Teri Kasam 2.
They indicated that the film was conceived in two segments from the outset and expressed confidence regarding the trajectory of Inder's character, portrayed by Harshvardhan Rane.
They elaborated, stating, "This is why, at the conclusion, he approaches that tree, and Suru's voice resonates with her dialogues, setting the stage for part 2."
When inquired about the anticipated release date for the sequel, the filmmakers mentioned that since the first instalment was viewed by audiences on Valentine's Day this year, they aim to premiere Sanam Teri Kasam 2 on Valentine's Day next year.
In the meantime, the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam has reportedly garnered Rs 18.50 crore to date, according to Sacnilk.
