Hansika Motwani seeks relief from the Bombay High Court
The mother-daughter duo has petitioned the High Court to annul the FIR lodged under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Muskan's complaint accuses her husband, Prashant Motwani, as well as his sister Hansika and mother Jyoti, of cruelty, domestic violence, infliction of harm, and criminal intimidation.
The bench, comprising Justices Sarang Kotwal and SM Modak, has acknowledged their petition and scheduled a hearing for July 3. Muskan married Hansika’s brother, Prashant, in 2020, but the couple separated in 2022 due to ongoing relationship issues.
Details of Hansika Motwani’s petition
Hansika’s petition reportedly claims that the FIR was filed out of spite after she requested the repayment of ₹27 lakh that she had lent to Muskan and Prashant for their wedding expenses. She asserts that the funds were directed to wedding planners, yet the couple has not reimbursed her.
Additionally, she contends that the criminal charges represent an exaggerated reaction to a matrimonial conflict, stating, “The allegations against the petitioner are unfounded, driven by motives, and stem from domestic disputes that have been inflated to warrant criminal prosecution.”

Hansika has asserted that she had no direct role in her brother's marital problems, contending that the case was initiated solely due to her relationship as Prashant's sister. Her petition reportedly claims, "The FIR seems to be a retaliatory tactic intended to coerce the petitioner and her family into a financial agreement regarding the current matrimonial conflict."
In February of this year, both Hansika and Jyoti were granted anticipatory bail by the Mumbai Sessions Court. They are now seeking the court's intervention to annul the FIR, arguing that the criminal allegations are being employed to exert pressure on them in the ongoing divorce proceedings between Prashant and Muskan.
