Hansal Mehta, renowned for his works such as Shahid and Scam 1992 - The Harshad Mehta Story, is set to unveil his latest web series. The director has completed filming a project titled Gandhi, which chronicles the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi. Actor Pratik Gandhi will portray the lead character. In a recent interview, Hansal provided insights into his web series, which is presently in the post-production phase.

Hansal Mehta continues to delve into the intricacies of his characters with his forthcoming series, Gandhi. In a conversation with Mid-Day, the director remarked, "When we create films about real individuals, they frequently turn into hagiographies. However, my goal is to develop a well-rounded character. I achieved this with Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story [2020], and you will observe the same with Gandhi."

He additionally disclosed a lesson that he has implemented in his latest project. He stated that the most effective method to captivate audiences with a character is to portray them as relatable and human. "The concept is to make your characters more human. You will not connect with the character unless you perceive them in their entirety, encompassing both their virtues and flaws, as well as their failures and triumphs," Hansal remarked.

For those who may not be aware, renowned music composer AR Rahman has partnered with Hansal Mehta for the upcoming series, which is set to premiere on a streaming platform shortly. Rahman has contributed to the musical score for the series featuring Pratik Gandhi. This announcement was made on Gandhi Jayanti in 2024.

Hansal announced this exciting news on Instagram, stating: "Maestro A.R. Rahman joins Team Gandhi! As we commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, we honor the Mahatma and are delighted to reveal this remarkable collaboration! (sic)."

In addition, Hansal's upcoming project featuring Pratik was completed by August 2024. The series also includes Pratik's spouse, Bhamini Oza, portraying Kasturba Gandhi. The international cast comprises Tom Felton, Libby Mai, Lindon Alexander, Jonno Davies, Simon Lennon, among others.
