In an exciting update, acclaimed director Hansal Mehta and producer Sahil Saigal are joining forces to create the official Hindi version of Tentigo (originally titled Nelum Kuluna) for Indian viewers. This Sri Lankan comedy, which received international acclaim after its debut at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2023, will be produced by their newly launched company, True Story Films.

Tentigo made a significant impact worldwide, earning the esteemed Special Jury Award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. Produced by Hiranya Perera and Crawling Angel Films, the film charmed both critics and audiences with its unique humor and touching storyline. True Story Films is collaborating with Crawling Angel Films, with Sanjay Gulati and Neeraj Pandey co-producing the Hindi adaptation. Notably, renowned casting director and filmmaker Mukesh Chhabra is stepping into the producer role for this project, with Hiranya Perera acting as Associate Producer.

The screenplay for the Hindi adaptation will be penned by Karan Vyas, a three-time Filmfare winner recognized for his work on Scam 1992, Scam 2003, Scoop, and Saas Bahu aur Flamingo. Vyas aims to deliver a fresh and quirky interpretation of the original, mixing humor with emotional resonance to infuse the film with a new vibe while keeping its essence intact. The official announcement for the Hindi adaptation was made during the premiere of Tentigo in Colombo on March 12, 2025, where the creative team celebrated the original film's success. The film hit theaters on March 14, 2025, receiving rave reviews and heightening excitement for the Hindi version.

Talking about the project, Hansal Mehta said, "I’m not typically a fan of remakes, but this one really got me excited. The first time I watched Tentigo, I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s clever, bold, and deeply moving—the kind of story that lingers with you. I think this adaptation will connect with audiences all over India. We at True Story Films are really excited to share this hilarious film with a larger audience." Mukesh Chhabra, who has collaborated with Hansal Mehta on several projects since Shahid, added, "This feels like a natural progression of everything we’ve created together over the years. I’m thrilled about this new chapter in my career and can’t wait for viewers to enjoy this fantastic film."

Sanjay Gulati from Crawling Angel Films also shared his excitement, stating, "Tentigo, as a comedy, breaks away from the usual 'Festival Film' stereotype and is starting to gain popularity beyond that niche. With this adaptation, I want to move past those labels because what really matters is reaching a broad audience. I believe True Story Films and Hansal are the ideal partners to make that happen." While the details about the director and cast for the Hindi adaptation are still under wraps, the producers promise a talented lineup that will elevate the film's already high expectations. With its mix of humor, emotion, and cultural relevance, Tentigo's Hindi version is set to be a standout in Indian cinema.
