Hansal Mehta to remake Tentigo in Hindi
Tentigo is a Sinhala film that premiered in theaters last week, alongside its Tamil equivalent, Perusu. Both versions are penned and directed by Ilango Ram. The Sinhala adaptation features actors Kaushalya Fernando, Priyantha Sirikumara, Thusitha Laknath, and Ranjith Panagoda, while Perusu includes performances by Sunil, Vaibhav, Niharika NM, among others.
Rated A for its mature themes, the film tells the story of an elderly man who is highly esteemed in his village. However, following his death, which is marked by a post-mortem erection, his family faces an awkward situation as they attempt to conduct his funeral, unaware that the villagers are already aware of his unusual condition.

The film is set to be remade in Hindi, with Hansal Mehta as the director and Sahil Saigal as the producer. This adaptation will also mark the debut of casting director Mukesh Chhabra as a producer. However, the identity of the director remains undisclosed, and the casting details have not yet been revealed. Karan Vyas, known for his work on Scam 1992, Scam 2003, and Scoop, will be responsible for the Hindi adaptation of the film.
According to a report from Variety, Hansal expressed his enthusiasm by stating, “I’m not typically in favor of remakes, but this one truly excited me. From the moment I watched Tentigo, I couldn’t stop laughing. It was clever, irreverent, and profoundly emotional – the type of story that lingers in your mind. I am confident that this adaptation will connect with audiences throughout India.”
