In her three-minute segment on Netflix's Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year, Hannah Berner made a humorous remark regarding the viral usage of the term "c--t," in connection with Blake Lively’s recent legal issues involving Justin Baldoni. "The word 'c--t' was trending this year. I don't think Blake Lively was that bad," Berner quipped while poking fun at notable moments in pop culture.

Lively’s legal situation gained significant attention during the promotional tour for the film, which ultimately impacted its box office performance. Following the segment, Berner took to Instagram on December 27 to clarify that the joke was recorded prior to the emergence of the news. "To be 100 per cent clear, I support Blake xoxo," she stated, reaffirming her support for the actress. The special was filmed on December 17 at The Bellwether in Los Angeles.

Additionally, the joke included commentary on various pop culture events, such as the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres' relocation abroad in light of Trump's return, and the breakup of Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, among others. While Berner did not elaborate on the specifics of her joke, it is likely that she was referencing several past interviews with Lively that gained renewed attention during the contentious press tour for It Ends With Us.

The lawsuit states that a meeting took place involving Lively, Reynolds, Baldoni, and their respective legal representatives to discuss these allegations. Lively's stipulations for her continued participation in the film, as outlined in the lawsuit, encompassed demands such as prohibiting “the display of nude videos or images to her,” “any references to Baldoni's purported pornography addiction,” “conversations regarding sexual conquests in her presence,” “further mention of the cast and crew's genitalia,” “inquiries about her weight,” and “any references to her deceased father.”

In the aftermath of the lawsuit, numerous prominent figures in Hollywood, including Colleen Hoover, author of It Ends With Us, America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, Gwyneth Paltrow, Amy Schumer, Paul Feig, Amber Heard, Jenny Slate, Brandon Sklenar, and Lively’s close friend Taylor Swift, have publicly supported the actress and expressed their solidarity on social media.
