Story:

Riya is in a serious relationship with Jogi, till she gets to know that he has a daughter. That changes their equation to an extent. If that wasn’t enough, Riya finds herself falling for another man. Half Love Half Arranged season 2 explores her complicated life and love story, mainly with Jogi.

Review:

In the world of social media, where relationships are hyped, there’s also a world that portrays the real side of singlehood. And most of us, searching for someone to complete us, often end up on each side within a short span of time. That reality is brought back through the second season of Half Love Half Arranged featuring Maanvi Gagroo, Karan Wahi and Ritvik Dhanjani.

The series commences exactly from the point that the first season ended - with Maanvi Gagroo’s Riya finding out the truth about Karan Wahi’s Jogi through Pulkit Makol's Arf Iqbal. The focus, however, shifts to the crazy family from Rajouri aka her family who have just come to know about the whole situation, and cannot stand a moment of it.

Ritvik Dhanjani's entry to the show as Riya's housemate Ved is a surprise you do not want to miss. As an actor, he shines in front of the craziness (since he fits in as crazy right in). His character, too, is full of surprises, from his behaviour to profession as well.

Shruti Jolly's entry as fierce Tanvi is just like you wished to see - a new mother who is just as concerned (probably more) about her BFF, Riya. Her frank attitude is still a big hit on the show.

The important scene – the confrontation scene – is a little absurd and messes with your head, but once it unfolds, you move over it. The story is still sweet and moves at a good pace. There's nothing new in locations, which is perfect. Everything leaves you hooked to the show once again.

The fun elements on the show, mainly from Maanvi's side, take the series to a new level. Her chemistry with Karan is the most adorable. You also feel their passion, thanks to the way the scenes have been directed.

The second episode of the series gives you the hilarious punch you were missing this time around. The evil sister Siya (Bhavya Grover) is back and how! Jogi's mother is also back in her element - being the coolest mom on the block.

Of course, the series doesn't come without slight drama. There's a shocker, and it leads to dramatic moments, which of course, are a prime example of ‘khoda pahaad nikla chuha.’

The turmoil that comes into a relationship once things start getting serious is explored beautifully through the series. A couple who found love went through their lowest moment - a point where only love could be a reason to stay. With that, they are snapped back into reality within a day. This makes them rethink their whole relationship. It is an emotion most would be able to relate to, and the makers excelled in it through a simple yet effective scene.

When the past comes haunting back, and we all know it often does, things tend to hurt a little extra. Maanvi portrays that pain and anger brilliantly, while Karan, being the more mature one among them, has a different way of handling things. Although they're both cool in showing their emotions, Ritvik once again steals the show.

The cute family bond between matchmaker Bua Rajni (Grusha Kapoor), mother Himani (Supriya Shukla), and father Prakash (Amit Singh Thakur) is also explored in the series. At the same time, it's realistic, mainly because we see Siya's side too (even if it is eventually shunned as a comic relief).

Like the last season, Riya's life gets complicated. What she didn't see coming happens, and it changes the trajectory of her life. But she has finally found the perfect man, who hypes her up, matches her vibe and respects her above everything. The love story between these cuties is never boring and leaves you with smiles in every single scene.

Obviously, the makers have kept the scope for season 3 open since Riya now has a major decision to make, on what could be the most important day of her life. And if choosing among two men is not enough, there's another drastic shift in her life (the great one, if she stands by it).

Verdict:

Not many web series can boast of a good season 2. Ammar Kolsawala-Simarpreet Singh's Half Love Half Arranged is not one of those, since it takes the essence of season 1 and goes a notch above. This is a great continuation, and looks ahead in life, while keeping the reality intact to an extent. This aspect works great for the show, apart from, of course, the acting and the overall vibe of the show. The story penned by Parikshit Joshi deserves a special mention. Do watch this, especially if you loved the first season.
