Bollywood star Govinda has been out of the film scene for quite a while now. He pops up here and there as a guest on reality TV shows and at special events, but he hasn't starred in any movies for the last six years. In a recent chat with Mukesh Khanna on his YouTube channel Bheeshm International, Govinda mentioned that he feels there was a conspiracy against him in Bollywood.

Govinda talks about turning down projects

Govinda reminisced about a period when he was out of work, sharing, "Back then, I turned down movies that were worth ₹100 crore. I’d look in the mirror and give myself a slap for passing up that cash. I thought, ‘What were you thinking? You could’ve set yourself up with that money.’ The roles were similar to what’s popular now." Still, he stood by his choice, emphasizing that it’s crucial to follow your heart and trust your instincts, as being true to yourself is what really matters.

Govinda claims that there was a conspiracy against him in Bollywood

Govinda opened up about his reasons for entering politics, saying he felt there was a conspiracy against him in Bollywood. He mentioned, "I went through a phase of defamation that seemed planned out. They wanted to push me out of the industry. I realized these were all educated folks, and here I was, an outsider with no formal education, stepping into their world. So, they started playing tricks on me. I can't name names because I still owe my career to the work I did in this industry. When the conspiracies against me began, attempts on my life followed. A lot of people were caught outside my house with guns, and they were coming up with various ways to get rid of me. After all that, I noticed a change in my nature."

Govinda's last film was Rangeela Raja, which came out in 2019. This comedy, directed by Sikander Bharti and produced by Pahlaj Nihalani, featured him in a dual role alongside Mishika Chourasia and Anupama Agnihotri, but it didn’t do well at the box office. Last year, during his time on The Great Indian Kapil Show, he mentioned he has three projects lined up.

On a personal note, Govinda recently made headlines due to rumors about his divorce from his wife, Sunita Ahuja. Although neither of them has spoken publicly about it, their lawyer confirmed that while Sunita filed for divorce six months ago, the couple has since patched things up.
