Actor Govind Namdev, known for his roles in Ram Gopal Varma’s films like Satya and Sarkar Raj, recently shared his thoughts in an interview about wanting to see the director make a comeback. During his chat on the Hindi Rush podcast, he expressed his surprise at how someone so talented could seem to have lost their touch with recent projects.

When talking about RGV, Govind mentioned that the director transformed once he hit a certain level of success. He remarked, “When someone achieves a certain fame, it alters their perspective; I believe that’s what happened with him. Sometimes, external factors can also play a role. The creativity he once had seems to have flipped completely. Now, every project he puts out makes you think, this can’t be Ram Gopal Varma.”

The actor went on to highlight some of RGV’s best films, expressing hope that the director can find his spark again. “The guy who created amazing movies like Satya, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Company, and Rangeela… how can a filmmaker of his caliber end up like this? Maybe he’ll have a change of heart; I’m optimistic about it. He’s an actor’s director and has a knack for crafting films that redefine the art of filmmaking.”

Ram Gopal Varma is looking to make a comeback

When Satya hit theaters again in January, 27 years after it first came out, RGV took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartfelt message about how he got a bit carried away with his success.

He mentioned, “The dazzling lights of 'Rangeela' and 'Satya' blinded me, and I lost my way. That’s why I ended up making films just for shock value or gimmicks, showing off my technical skills in ways that didn’t really matter. In all that chaos, I forgot a simple truth: while technique can enhance content, it can’t stand in for it.”

RGV also revealed that he’s gearing up to make a comeback with a new film called Syndicate.
