Government Discussions Should Prioritize Ticket Price Protests, Says TFCC General Secretary JVR

Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) General Secretary JVR has voiced strong criticism against the Telangana government for failing to honour its commitment regarding ticket price increases for major films. He underscored the necessity for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the government to adhere to their previous assurance of maintaining stable ticket prices for significant film releases. JVR raised alarms that increased ticket prices could adversely affect smaller films and deter audiences from attending theatres due to elevated costs.

Additionally, JVR expressed his dissatisfaction over the TFCC and senior producer Pratani Ramakrishna Goud's exclusion from the recent government discussions with the film industry. In a media briefing on Friday, he highlighted the importance of inclusive representation in such dialogues.

In his remarks to the press, JVR stated:

"The Telangana government and CM Revanth Reddy had explicitly indicated that there would be no increase in ticket prices for major films. Nevertheless, ticket prices for the film Game Changer have been raised, which has sparked considerable public discourse. The government must honour its pledge and implement measures to prevent any hikes in ticket prices for major releases.

As a supporter of the Congress party with a history of involvement, I still implore the government to fulfil its promises. The recent discussions between the government and the film industry notably lacked representation from Telangana stakeholders.

The TFCC comprises 35,000 workers, 16,000 members, and over 1,000 producers. It is particularly concerning that senior producer Pratani Ramakrishna Goud, who boasts extensive experience with 40 productions, was not included in these discussions. It is inappropriate to overlook such a seasoned producer in critical industry meetings.

The government has appointed Dil Raju as the Chairman of the Film Development Corporation (FDC). However, he has not adequately addressed the pressing issues facing the industry to the government. The film sector employs over 100,000 individuals, yet conversations are limited to a few select representatives, effectively excluding those from the TFCC.

It is imperative for the government to acknowledge the importance of the TFCC and to include its leadership in relevant discussions. Additionally, initiatives should be implemented to support smaller films. The commitments previously made by Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding the sustainability of small films need to be honoured for the advancement of the film industry.
