Golden Globes 2025: Nikki Glaser's Hilarious Roasts and Political Jabs

Nikki Glaser commenced the 2025 Golden Globes with a monologue that captivated both fans and the audience, who were frequently observed laughing and applauding. Her performance featured lighthearted casting couch humour related to Hollywood, an unexpected critique of Peacock, and pointed remarks directed at President-elect Donald Trump.

As she opened the event, Glaser referred to it as "Ozempic's biggest night." She humorously noted, "Some of you may recognize me as a stand-up comedian or from my appearances on roasts. I'm not here to roast you," adding, "How could I? You’re all so famous and so powerful."

Hosting the Golden Globes just two weeks prior to Trump’s inauguration, Glaser delivered a particularly sharp line aimed at the assembly of Hollywood elites: "You could really do anything ... except tell the country who to vote for," she remarked. "But it's OK, you'll get 'em next time ... if there is one. I'm scared."

Glaser then directed her attention to Wicked star Ariana Grande, making a playful request: "Ariana, hold my finger."

Nikki Glaser rehearsed her monologue a total of 93 times

Glaser has disclosed that she rehearsed her monologue a total of 93 times. “Tonight marks my 94th occasion of presenting some variation of this. It has evolved even since the last time I shared it, so we are continually refining it, enhancing the humour, and aiming to achieve the appropriate tone for the evening. A significant amount of effort has been invested in this,” the 40-year-old shared with E! News.

This event marked Glaser's inaugural hosting of the Golden Globes, although she is certainly not unfamiliar with captivating an audience. Last year, she gained widespread attention for her performance in Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady. With over twenty years of experience in stand-up comedy, she is well-versed in the art.

“I feel completely prepared,” Glaser expressed on the red carpet. “I am eager to perform. I do not feel any nerves at this moment. Having just completed rehearsal, I feel very at ease with the material. I am simply thinking, ‘I cannot wait to share this with a room full of people.’ It is going to be an incredible experience.”
