Actor Mahesh Babu's son, Gautam Ghattamaneni, intends to pursue a career in acting, inspired by both his father and grandfather, Krishna. Currently enrolled in acting classes at New York University, Gautam appears to be progressing well, as evidenced by a recent video shared by a fan.

A fan page dedicated to Mahesh Babu shared a video of Gautam on Instagram, captioning it, “#GautamGhattamaneni excels at NYU Tisch School of the Arts! Gautam performed in a mime created by his classmates. We wish him all the best on this artistic journey!” The video features Gautam and a classmate simulating a date, which takes a turn as he expresses his emotions solely through facial expressions, gestures, and actions, without uttering a single word. The background music is Cass Elliot’s song "Baby I’m Yours."

Reactions from fans regarding the video were varied; some praised Gautam's performance, while others felt there was potential for enhancement. One fan expressed, “I didn’t grasp much, but I believe he performed well,” in response to the video shared on X (formerly Twitter). Another remarked, “The acting is commendable, but perhaps his charisma will shine more on the big screen, and this concept is a bit underwhelming.” Additionally, a fan noted, “He doesn’t seem to have the qualities of a hero.”

Gautam’s interest in acting

Notably, Gautam made his acting debut several years ago. In 2014, he portrayed a younger version of his father Mahesh's character, Gautham, in Sukumar's film 1: Nenokkadine. After completing his education at the International School of Hyderabad last year, he enrolled at New York University to pursue a four-year drama program. His sister, Sitara Ghattamaneni, has also shown an interest in acting and has appeared in several advertisements.

Mahesh, who was last seen in the 2024 film Guntur Kaaram directed by Trivikram Srinivas, is currently filming a jungle adventure movie with SS Rajamouli. In this project, he stars alongside Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Recently, they completed a shooting schedule for the untitled SSMB 29 in Odisha.
