Game Changer trailer reactions: SS Rajamouli unveiled the trailer for Shankar’s debut Telugu film, Game Changer. Scheduled for release on January 10, the film features Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the principal roles. Ram Charan will portray dual characters, a father and his son. Online responses appeared divided, with some viewers expressing enthusiasm for the trailer while others noted a sense of déjà vu reminiscent of Shankar’s previous works.

Internet reacts to Game Changer trailer

Upon the release of the trailer on Thursday evening, responses on X (formerly Twitter) appeared to oscillate between measured optimism and inquiries regarding Shankar's tendency to recycle themes. One viewer, who appreciated the versatility demonstrated by Ram in the trailer while portraying dual roles, remarked, “Me After watching Game Changer Trailer. Inni variations chupettav entayya (How did you show so many variations).”

Another individual expressed that although the trailer did not present anything particularly innovative, they still appreciated it, stating, "The trailer for Game Changer is well-edited. While the film's themes are familiar, it is sufficient to attract audiences to theatres."

Conversely, one viewer was not fond of the trailer but maintained a hopeful outlook regarding the film, drawing a parallel to their enjoyment of Ram's father Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. They remarked, "I did not like the trailer. I have no confidence in the information leaks about Game Changer. However, I felt the same way during the days of Waltair Veerayya; the experience in theatres was enjoyable. Let us see how it turns out in the theatre."

The sense of déjà vu

The trailer depicts Ram in various roles, including that of a student, a police officer, and an IAS officer. Additionally, it features his father, portrayed by the same actor, as a political leader. There are indications that a tragic event involving his parents prompted him to combat corruption, echoing themes commonly found in Shankar’s Tamil films, which frequently explore the concept of vigilante justice.

One individual shared posters from Arjun Sarja's Mudhavalan (Oke Okkadu) and Vikram's Saamy Square, suggesting a thematic resemblance to these films. Another fan commented on X, stating it evokes "Madhavan vibes." Additionally, one user noted similarities to Sivaji and Indian 2, remarking, “Game Changer = Mudhalvan + Shivaji + Indian-2.” A Reddit user encapsulated the sentiment by stating, “Typical Shankar Template Movie. Either Blockbuster or Disaster. UNPREDICTABLE.” Another remarked, “Better than expected but looks straight out of early 2010's.”

A further scene in the trailer, featuring Ram on horseback, appeared to evoke memories of Rajamouli’s Magadheera. During the trailer launch, Rajamouli humorously advised Ram against riding horses in films that he does not direct.
