Game Changer, Ram Charan's highly anticipated film directed by Shankar, was released on January 10, 2025, after three years of production. Although it earned a strong opening on its first day, negative word of mouth quickly spread, leading to a significant drop in occupancy. As of now, the film has grossed Rs 124 crore net and is nearing the end of its theatre run. It is expected to leave theatres by the end of this week.

Dil Raju facing losses for Game Changer

Dil Raju, the producer of Game Changer, invested nearly Rs 450 crore into the film. However, recent reports indicate that he is set to incur a loss of approximately Rs 100 crore, marking the highest loss ever for one of his productions. While Dil Raju is known for being a strategic producer, the film's repeated delays hindered his plans. The losses could have been even more significant if not for the revenue generated from the OTT and post-theatrical rights. Fortunately, Dil Raju recouped a substantial amount by selling the OTT rights to Amazon Prime Video at a high price.

Dil Raju makes big money with Sankranthiki Vasthunnam

Fortunately for Dil Raju, his other Sankranthi release, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, has performed well at the box office, grossing Rs 200 crore. The Anil Ravipudi-directed film is proving to be highly profitable, which will help offset the losses from Game Changer. However, in a challenging turn of events, IT raids were conducted on Dil Raju and his family earlier today, adding to the growing concerns about his investments in films. Additionally, the Zee Group, which acquired the north distribution rights, is also facing substantial losses.

Game Changer had a solid storyline and Ram Charan delivered a strong performance, but Shankar's ordinary narration failed to do justice to the film. On top of that, negative social media trends created by anti-fans further hurt the film’s performance at the box office.

Fans are upset, feeling that Shankar wasted Ram Charan’s prime three years on the project, as the actor didn't take up any other films during that time. There are rumors circulating in the film industry that, in order to recover from the losses, Ram Charan has signed another film with Dil Raju and may even take a pay cut. Although this news has not been confirmed, it has gone viral.

On the other hand, Ram Charan is currently working with Buchi Babu Sana, known for Uppena. The film is underway, with Janhvi Kapoor playing the female lead. Featuring music by AR Rahman, the movie is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the same banner behind Pushpa. Stay tuned for more updates.
