Gal Gadot's Heartfelt Revelation: Battling a Blood Clot in the Brain During Her Fourth Pregnancy

Gal Gadot welcomed her fourth daughter, Ori, earlier this year. However, the actress has disclosed that her most recent pregnancy was fraught with challenges. She was diagnosed with Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT), a condition characterized by a blood clot in the brain, which she notes affects approximately 3 in 100,000 pregnant women over the age of 30.

What Gal Gadot said

On Monday morning, Gal took to her social media platforms to share a poignant image from the hospital. In the photograph, she gazes lovingly at her newborn daughter, who is peacefully cradled in her arms, while she enjoys a cup of black coffee with her other hand.

In her caption, she expressed, “This year has presented profound challenges and deep reflections, leading me to contemplate whether, and how, to share my journey. Ultimately, I chose to follow my heart. This may serve as my means of processing everything, revealing the delicate reality that lies behind the polished moments we often present on social media. Most importantly, I hope that by sharing my experience, I can foster awareness and provide support to others who may encounter similar struggles.”

“In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I received a diagnosis of a significant blood clot in my brain. For several weeks, I suffered from debilitating headaches that kept me confined to bed, until an MRI finally unveiled the alarming truth. In an instant, my family and I were confronted with the fragility of life. It served as a stark reminder of how swiftly circumstances can shift, and amidst a challenging year, my sole desire was to hold on and survive,” she recounted.

“We hurried to the hospital, and within hours, I underwent emergency surgery. My daughter, Ori, was born during that period of uncertainty and fear. Her name, which means ‘my light,’ was not a coincidence. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would symbolize the light at the end of this tunnel. Thanks to an exceptional team of doctors at @cedarssinai and weeks of devoted care, I emerged from this ordeal and began my recovery journey. Today, I am completely healed and profoundly grateful for the life I have been given back,” Gal concluded.

The experience has imparted significant lessons. Firstly, it is essential to heed the signals of our bodies and have confidence in their messages. Symptoms such as pain, discomfort, or even minor changes can often indicate more profound issues, and being in tune with one’s body can be crucial for survival. Secondly, awareness is of utmost importance. I was previously unaware that among pregnant women aged 30 and above, the incidence of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is approximately 3 in 100,000. Early detection is critical, as this condition is treatable. Although it is uncommon, it remains a potential risk, and recognizing its existence is the initial step toward addressing it. The intention behind sharing this information is not to instil fear but to empower individuals. If this narrative inspires even one person to take proactive steps regarding their health, then the effort to share it will have been worthwhile, Gal concluded.
