Tamil music composer and actor GV Prakash Kumar, along with singer Saindhavi, officially initiated mutual divorce proceedings at the Chennai Family Welfare Court on Monday. The couple was seen arriving together at the court and departing in the same vehicle following the hearing. According to a report by News18 Tamil, the judge has postponed the case to a future date.

GV Prakash, Saindhavi file for divorce

Prakash and Saindhavi, who tied the knot in 2013, announced their separation in 2024 and subsequently filed for divorce in 2025. On March 24, they submitted a petition for mutual divorce at the Chennai family court, seeking to dissolve their 12-year marriage. The case was brought before Judge Selva Sundari, where both Prakash and Saindhavi appeared in person to confirm their voluntary separation. Following their statement, the case was adjourned, and they left together in the same car.

A cordial separation between the two

Since announcing their separation, Prakash and Saindhavi have maintained a friendly relationship, collaborating when necessary during concerts. The two were childhood friends prior to their marriage in 2013. They welcomed a daughter, Anvi, in 2020, but rumors regarding their separation began circulating last year. While the couple confirmed their split, they requested privacy and denied any external influences, emphasizing that their separation was amicable.

Recent work

Prakash, who is the nephew of AR Rahman, made his singing debut in Shankar’s 1992 film Gentleman and began his career as a composer with Vasanthabalan’s 2006 film Veyil. He made his acting debut in the 2015 film Trisha Illana Nayanthara. Currently, he has composed music for several projects, including Robinhood in Telugu and Good Bad Ugly, Idly Kadai, Parasakthi, Vaadivaasal, and Mask in Tamil. After his recent appearance in Kingston, he is set to star in Idimuzhakkam and 13. Saindhavi, who has been performing since the age of 12, is recognized for her contributions to popular films such as Anniyan and Raja Rani. Her latest work includes the song Kanave in Amaran.
