Music composer and actor GV Prakash has garnered attention following his separation from singer Saindhavi in May of last year, after a decade-long marriage. Although the couple has requested privacy, speculation regarding the reasons for their breakup has been rampant, with some attributing it to his co-star Divyabharathi. In an interview with Galatta Tamil, Prakash and Divyabharathi sought to clarify their relationship.

GV Prakash, Divyabharathi discuss their relationship

In the interview, Prakash addressed the persistent rumors surrounding his alleged romance with Divyabharathi, which began circulating after their collaboration in the 2021 film Bachelor. He emphasized that their relationship is strictly professional, stating, “Following Bachelor, people have been suggesting that we are dating. In reality, we have no personal connection and only interact on set; she is merely my colleague. We do not meet outside of work, yet the online commentary suggests otherwise.”

Divyabharathi also spoke on the issue, expressing her frustration over being unfairly targeted following Prakash's divorce. “I faced severe trolling because people misconstrued our on-screen pairing. I was pleased to see GV and Saindhavi perform together, yet I was still subjected to negative comments. I received messages accusing me of being the cause of their divorce and of destroying their marriage. I shared some of the most hurtful messages with GV, who advised me to disregard them and concentrate on my work.”

GV Prakash and Divyabharathi are set to collaborate once more in the upcoming film Kingston, following their work in Bachelor.

Recent work

In terms of recent projects, Prakash was last seen in the 2024 film Dear and is scheduled to appear in Kingston, which is set for release on March 7. He also has projects titled Idimuzhakkam and 13 in the pipeline. As a composer, he has several films lined up, including Dhanush’s Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam and Idly Kadai, Adhik Ravichandran’s Good Bad Ugly, Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi, and Vetrimaaran’s Vaadivaasal. Divyabharathi, who was last featured in Maharaja and the limited series Cheran's Journey, will also star in Madhil Mel Kaadhal in Tamil and G.O.A.T in Telugu, in addition to Kingston.
