Former President Barack Obama has unveiled his annual selection of favorite films for this year. On Friday, he took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the list, with Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine as Light taking the top spot.

The accompanying note read, "Barack Obama's favorite movies of 2024 include All We Imagine as Light, Conclave, The Piano Lesson, The Promised Land, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Dune: Part Two, Anora, Didi, and A Complete Unknown."

All We Imagine as Light has been receiving international acclaim. The narrative of All We Imagine as Light centers on Prabha, a distressed nurse who unexpectedly receives a gift from her estranged husband, and Anu, her young roommate who is in search of intimacy with her boyfriend. Their journey to a coastal town allows them to explore their desires and emotions. The film features Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam in prominent roles and is an official Indo-French co-production between Petit Chaos (France) and Chalk & Cheese and Another Birth (India).

Dune: Part Two adapts the latter half of Frank Herbert's 1965 science fiction novel. It follows Paul Atreides, portrayed by Timothée Chalamet, as he allies with the Fremen to liberate the galaxy from the Harkonnen empire, which is responsible for his father's demise.
