Nikkhil Advani's series Freedom at Midnight premiered on SonyLIV on November 15. Set around the events of India's independence and partition, the series opened to positive feedback from audiences and critics. Khurshed Laywer played the role of Pyarelal Nayyar in the series. Pyarelal was the personal secretary and follower of Mahatma Gandhi during India's freedom struggle. The actor has revealed what attracted him to this role in the web show.

In an official statement, Khurshed Lawyer said he always takes up projects that help him recharge and help him refocus on work. The actor mentioned that playing Pyarelal Nayyar's role was an incredible experience.
"He amongst many other characters are lesser known in the Freedom Struggle who faithfully lived by the ideals, values, and morals of Gandhiji. Pyarelal's dedication to the freedom struggle drew me in, and I couldn't resist being part of this monumental story. The experience has been overwhelming with scenes like I have never ever done before," said Khurshed.
The Freedom at Midnight actor added that Nikkhil Advani's vision, the show's star cast, and historical significance made this an 'irresistible' opportunity for him. Nikkhil Advani's Freedom at Midnight featured an ensemble star cast. Chirag Vohra played the role of Mahatma Gandhi while Rajendra Chawla was seen as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sidhant Gupta portrayed the character of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Arif Zakaria played Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Actresses Malishka Mendonsa and Ira Dubey were seen as Sarojini Naidu and Fatima Jinnah in the series.
