3 months ago | 5 Views
A bunch of Bollywood stars have talked about their experiences with the casting couch, and now Fatima Sana Shaikh has joined the conversation, sharing her own uncomfortable moments. In a straightforward chat with Bollywood Bubble, she opened up about the struggles she dealt with when she was starting out in her career.
Fatima remembers dealing with the casting couch situation
Fatima opened up about a pretty awkward encounter she had with a casting agent for a South Indian film. The agent kept making her feel uncomfortable with his hints. She recounted, “He kept asking me, ‘You’ll be ready to do everything, right?’ I told him I’d work hard and do what’s needed for the role, but he just wouldn’t stop saying that. I played a bit clueless because I wanted to see how far he would go.”
Looking back on another experience in Hyderabad, Fatima shared her aspirations of landing a role in a South Indian film, thinking it could help her break into Bollywood. She mentioned, “The producers would talk about it pretty openly, saying things like, ‘You know, you have to meet people here.’ They wouldn’t say it directly, but their hints were pretty obvious. They’d imply things like, ‘You need to meet people’ or ‘You have to do this and that.’”
Even with these hurdles, Fatima pointed out that not everyone in the industry acts this way. She felt sad about the unfortunate experiences some people have gone through, saying it’s heartbreaking to hear the stories of what certain actors and actresses have faced. She stressed that these situations are really concerning and noted that even the biggest stars have dealt with their share of abuse.
