Farhan Akhtar on challenges of shooting Lakshya in Ladakh
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Farhan Akhtar expressed his fondness for Ladakh and his preference for utilizing authentic locations in his films. He noted that advancements in technology have significantly benefited filmmakers. From a production standpoint, he found it easier to film 120 Bahadur in Ladakh.
"When we traveled there to film Lakshya 20 years ago, the infrastructure was vastly different. Accessing Ladakh was quite challenging, with poor road conditions and minimal facilities. There were no mobile phones, making communication during the shoot very difficult. This time, the process was much more straightforward," Farhan explained.
He reminisced about the necessity of discussing all planned shots for Chang La Pass the night before, as there was no means to contact the base for adjustments during filming. "We couldn’t call the base and change anything while filming was on; none of that existed," he disclosed.
In addition to these two films, Farhan also filmed segments of his 2013 movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in the stunning region. This time, he appreciated the opportunity to spend an extended period in Ladakh for the filming of 120 Bahadur, which he found to be a beautiful experience.
