Farhan Akhtar is presently engaged in the production of his forthcoming film, 120 Bahadur. This film chronicles the life of the late Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, who significantly contributed to the Battle of Rezang La during the Sino-India War in 1962. In commemoration of Army Day 2025, Farhan expressed his unique connection with the Army through this cinematic endeavour. During an interview with Hindustan Times, Akhtar discussed his directorial work, Lakshya, as well as his upcoming project, 120 Bahadur.

Farhan Akhtar, in a conversation with the publication, expressed that his experience while working on the film Lakshya, featuring Hrithik Roshan, provided him with significant insights into the Army. He came to understand that the Army operates as a distinct entity, characterized by its own discipline and protocols.
Akhtar further stated that not all films depicting the Army receive their approval. "Nevertheless, certain productions necessitate the Army's endorsement. Lakshya was one such film, and now, 120 Bahadur. They pose inquiries when you approach them, and it is essential to have responses ready. It is their responsibility to comprehend your motivations for creating that film. They must feel at ease," he remarked.
The filmmaker and actor emphasized that donning the Army uniform on screen is a source of pride. According to Farhan, it instils a sense of duty and honour. He believes that wearing the uniform influences one's body language, posture, and overall demeanour.

On September 4, 2024, Farhan Akhtar officially announced his film titled 120 Bahadur. He revealed the initial glimpse of the project through his social media account. In his post, Akhtar expressed, "What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC and the soldiers of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon regiment (sic)."
