Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently shared a video on her YouTube channel in which she engaged in a discussion about parenting with actress Rubina Dilaik. Rubina, who welcomed her twins Edhaa and Jiva in 2023, sought advice from Farah, a mother of triplets Czar, Diva, and Anya Kunder. Here are her insights.

Farah Khan on raising triplets

Farah shared with Rubina that although her children are approaching college age next year, she feels fortunate that they still enjoy spending time with her and her husband, Shirish Kunder. She remarked, “Fortunately, my children are 17 but still possess a youthful spirit. They remain grounded and dedicated to their studies. Recently, for their birthday, they requested a family dinner instead of opting for a club outing.”

Moreover, Farah disclosed that her daughters have never visited a club and do not wear makeup. “My daughters have never set foot in a club. To this day, they have not used makeup or had their eyebrows threaded. I maintain a strict parenting approach, as they cannot go anywhere without my knowledge. Each evening, we engage in a gossip session, which allows me to stay informed about their lives. I also consider myself a fun and approachable mom,” she explained.

When Rubina commended her for protecting them from excessive exposure, she inquired whether there is a difference in her parenting style between her son and daughters. Farah responded that she is ‘stricter’ with her son, emphasizing the importance of teaching him how to treat women respectfully. She also mentioned that her son has been instructed not to engage when his friends speak inappropriately.

About Farah’s family

Farah married Shirish, the editor of her directorial debut, Main Hoon Na, in 2004, the same year the film was released. Shirish became a director in 2006 with Jaan-E-Mann. In 2008, Farah gave birth to triplets through IVF.

Upon the triplets' 17th birthday in February, Farah shared a collection of their photographs spanning the years on Instagram, accompanied by a heartfelt message: “Happy 17th birthday!! Rest assured your grandmother is watching over you from wherever she may be (as she clearly did not subscribe to the notions of heaven or hell). I understand that you may feel embarrassed by this reel, but as an Indian mother, it is my solemn duty to bring a touch of embarrassment to my children; that is how we express our love. It goes without saying that you are the greatest achievements your father and I have ever made.”
