Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan and filmmaker Shirish Kunder have been united in marriage for more than two decades. Throughout this time, they have collaborated on numerous film projects. However, Farah reveals that her initial impression of him was quite unconventional, resulting in a prolonged period of animosity towards him.

Farah Khan on Shirish Kunder

During a recent appearance on Archana Puran Singh's YouTube channel, Farah was inquired about her relationship with Shirish and the origins of their romance. In her characteristic candid manner, Farah stated, "I used to dislike him. For six months, I believed he was gay." When Archana probed whether she still harbored any animosity towards Shirish, Farah responded, “No. I have grown accustomed to him. It has been 20 years now. In the past, he would become angry, and when that happened, it was quite frustrating because he would remain silent and subject you to his silence.”

Farah and Shirish first crossed paths in the early 2000s when he edited her directorial debut, Main Hoon Na. Since then, they have collaborated on various projects, including Jaan-E-Mann, Om Shanti Om, and Tees Maar Khan. The couple is blessed with three children—one son and two daughters—who were born in 2008.

Farah Khan's career

Farah commenced her cinematic journey as a dancer in Saroj Khan's ensemble before transitioning to choreography with the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar in 1992. In 2004, she made her directorial debut with Main Hoon Na, after which she scaled back her choreography assignments. In recent years, she has taken on roles as a judge or host on various television reality programs, such as Indian Idol, Bigg Boss, Dance India Dance, and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. Currently, she serves as the host of Celebrity Masterchef, available for streaming on SonyLIV.

Shirish, who holds a degree in electronics engineering, initially worked as an editor on Main Hoon Na before advancing to direction with Jaan-E-Mann. He has since directed films such as Joker and Mrs Serial Killer.
