Durgesh Kumar on lack of opportunities

In a recent interview with the Times of India, the actor expressed, “The journey has been quite challenging. While people recognize the success of Panchayat, the truth is that after 12 years in the industry, I still face difficulties. Over the past year and a half, I have not received any audition invitations from major production companies. I collaborate with smaller producers who acknowledge my abilities... Although my work is acknowledged within the industry, I find myself pursuing casting directors for auditions. Despite my roles in Highway and Panchayat, I have yet to be offered a leading role by any significant production house. Many are familiar with my name, yet substantial opportunities remain elusive. I continue to audition and occasionally secure roles, but the process remains uncertain."

The actor further noted that the films and series he participates in are well-received and often win accolades, and he himself receives commendations from viewers. However, he finds that more significant opportunities do not consistently come his way. “It’s peculiar. The projects have garnered awards, yet critics seldom mention my contributions. Even after 25 years in the industry, I feel I do not receive the recognition I deserve. Nonetheless, I take solace in the fact that the audience values my work,” stated Durgesh.
