Actor Prateik Babbar is set to marry actress Priya Banerjee on Friday; however, the wedding festivities have been overshadowed by controversy. Prateik's half-brother, Aarya Babbar, has alleged that their father, Raj Babbar, has not received an invitation to the ceremony.

In a recent interview, Aarya refrained from placing the blame on Prateik for this decision. Instead, he implied that external influences may be affecting Prateik, resulting in the omission of the Babbar family from the wedding celebrations.

A family feud?

Aarya addressed the absence of the Babbar family from the wedding invitations. He conveyed his bewilderment and disappointment regarding Prateik's choice, as he had always perceived their relationship to be strong and intimate.

Aarya Babbar remarked, “I suspect that someone has exerted undue influence over his thoughts. He seems unwilling to engage with anyone from this side of the family and has opted not to reach out to anyone.”

Despite his feelings of confusion and disappointment, Aarya has opted to extend Prateik the benefit of the doubt. Nevertheless, he expressed his astonishment that Prateik did not invite their father, Raj Babbar, whom Aarya believes should have been included, even if Prateik chose not to invite Aarya's mother and stepmother, Nadira Babbar.

He further stated, “Life resembles a film; it appears that someone within the household is swaying his decisions. I prefer not to believe that it is Prateik himself, as I do not think he is that kind of person.”

More about the family

Smita Patil and Raj Babbar first encountered each other on the set of their film Bheegi Palkein in 1982. The following year, Raj left his previous partner, Nadira, to marry Smita. Their son, actor Prateik Babbar, was born in November 1986. Tragically, Smita Patil passed away shortly after due to complications from childbirth at the age of 31. A few years later, Raj Babbar reconciled with Nadira, with whom he has a son and a daughter.

Prateik Babbar is currently in his second marriage, having previously been wed to Sanya Sagar. The couple separated just one year after their marriage and finalized their divorce in January 2023.
