Did you know that Esha Deol was initially offered a role in the blockbuster film Golmaal and the famous song Beedi Jalaile? She turned down those opportunities and has since confessed that she regrets some of the choices she made at the start of her career.
Esha glances back
Esha Deol, the daughter of Hema Malini and Dharmendra, reflected on her career choices during a chat with Siddharth Kanan.
She mentioned, “There were a few great films I could have taken on, but honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking when I turned them down. They ended up being huge hits that I could have been a part of.”
When questioned if her choices stemmed from arrogance, Esha quickly clarified, “No, no, don’t paint me as that arrogant! I was actually quite well-mannered, naive, and innocent back then. I wasn’t arrogant like some people assume. Sometimes it was about scheduling conflicts, and other times I felt I wouldn’t do justice to the role. I wasn’t comfortable with certain parts. I made decisions based on my family values because I didn’t want to upset anyone. There were a lot of factors to consider.”
Among the roles she turned down were a part in Golmaal (2006) and the famous song Beedi Jalaile from Omkara (2006), which eventually went to Bipasha Basu.
Esha expressed that she believes Bipasha did an amazing job with it.
When asked if she regretted missing out on these successful projects, Esha admitted she does, saying that every actor probably feels that way and that “you’d definitely want to bang your head against the wall.”
Esha Deol's upcoming venture
Esha is making her comeback to the big screen with Tumko Meri Kasam after appearing alongside Ajay Devgn in Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness and Suniel Shetty in Hunter: Tootega Nahi, Todega, both of which are web series. Her last film was Kill Them Young back in 2015.
Directed by Vikram Bhatt and featuring Ishwak Singh, the movie is inspired by the life of Dr. Ajay Murdia, who founded Indira IVF, a well-known chain of fertility clinics.
The film also includes Anupam Kher and Adah Sharma in the cast and is set to hit theaters on March 21.
