Actor Rupali Ganguly's stepdaughter, Esha Verma, has once again attracted significant attention following a viral social media post that criticized the Anupamaa star. In her post, Esha referred to Rupali as "evil" and accused her of scheduling the upcoming court hearing on her birthday.

Family drama out in open

Recently, Esha utilized her Instagram Stories to express her sentiments regarding Rupali. In her post, she pointed out that her next court date coincides with her birthday and alleged that Rupali was keeping tabs on her online presence.

“Thank you to the evil stepmother for scheduling the next court date on my birthday, muah," she stated in her now-deleted Story.

However, after a screenshot of Esha’s Instagram story was circulated by a news outlet, she clarified that her intention was to share her thoughts with a friend, and the post was inadvertently made public.

“I use my social media to connect with friends and share my thoughts—it has always been a personal space for me. I was merely expressing my feelings before going to bed and intended to send it to a close friend, but it mistakenly ended up on my story. I did not mean to initiate any controversy or make this public—it was simply me processing my emotions at that moment," she explained in a comment to Pinkvilla.

Esha Verma further remarked, “Having my court date fall on my birthday has been overwhelming, and I was just voicing my frustration. It is exhausting to feel constantly monitored, and it is disheartening to see casual posts turned into news headlines."

About the feud

The rift within the family became apparent last year when a post from Esha dating back to 2020 resurfaced online and gained traction. In that post, Esha accused Rupali of being the cause of her mother and father Ashwin K's divorce, claiming that Rupali had threatened both her and her mother.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Esha expressed uncertainty regarding the responses of Rupali and Ashwin to the allegations and remarks made against them. She mentioned, "My father has recently commented on Twitter, now X, asserting that Rupali was not involved, which I believe is a significant falsehood. Rupali visited my home in New Jersey and slept in my mother's bed—the very bed shared by my parents. She has inflicted considerable physical, mental, verbal, and emotional abuse upon both me and my mother. This has caused us significant trauma, which we have had to endure. My mother and I have suffered immensely, especially given that we lack the same level of exposure that she possesses."

In response to these statements, Rupali Ganguly issued a defamation notice amounting to ₹50 crore to Esha, claiming that her actions have "damaged Rupali's reputation, violated her dignity, and adversely affected her career, leading to considerable financial losses." Following this incident, Rupali's step-daughter removed all posts related to Rupali from her social media accounts and set her Instagram profile to private. However, she has since made her Instagram account public again.
