Television actress Erica Fernandes recently discussed the emotional traumas and heartbreaks she has faced in her past relationships. During a conversation with Shardul Pandit on his podcast, Erica mentioned that the film Do Patti, featuring Shaheer Sheikh, brought back memories of a violent relationship she had previously endured.

In her reflections, Erica articulated how the emotional baggage, trauma, trust issues, and heartbreak have contributed to her current identity. She recounted, "I have experienced a very violent relationship, which included physical abuse. It escalated to a point of physical harm. However, I chose not to disclose it at that time. As an actor, any revelation can become sensational news. If I approached the police, it would likely be splashed across the media, resulting in a public trial. If I kept the perpetrator's identity private, speculation would arise. Additionally, I had doubts about the judicial system's reliability." She also expressed her concern about being perceived as orchestrating a 'publicity stunt' if she chose to speak out.

How Do Patti reminded Erica of her violent relationship

When questioned about her coping mechanisms, the actress revealed that she managed the situation in solitude, confiding in only a select few friends. She acknowledged that the ordeal "left a scar" and noted that films portraying physical abuse often evoke painful memories. She stated, "Watching Shaheer's Do Patti transported me back to those times, and I thought, 'Oh no.'"

Emphasizing that her intention is not to seek attention, Erica clarified that it took her years to muster the courage to share her story publicly. She encouraged others who may be experiencing similar challenges to speak out and give themselves the necessary time to heal.

Erica and Shaheer Sheikh collaborated in the popular television series Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, where their on-screen rapport captivated viewers. Recently, Shaheer appeared in the film Do Patti, which showcased Kriti Sanon in a dual role, alongside Kajol and Tanvi Azmi. In contrast, Erica's most recent project was the short film The Haunting.
